Caramelized Pears

Sliced Pears cooked in a sweet caramel sauce and served with fresh cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

Ingredients

  • 2 pears peeled, cored, and sliced.
  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg more to sprinkle when serving
  • 2 Tablespoons lime or lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon brandy (Can substitute vanilla)
  • fresh cream

Instructions

  1. Place sliced pears in a bowl. Pour lime juice over the pears. Sprinkle the pears with nutmeg. Set aside. Melt butter in a medium skillet on medium-low heat. Turn down heat to low. Add in brown sugar. Cook for 3 minutes or until the mixture starts to brown on the edges. Add in Pears. Allow Pears to simmer in the sauce for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add in Brandy. Return skillet to low heat and allow to simmer until pears are tender and the sauce has reduced and thickened. Serve pear slices with plenty of sauce and fresh cream sprinkled with more nutmeg.
