Salted Caramel Sauce

I’ve been trying REALLY, REALLY trying hard to eat healthier.

And when I say ‘HEALTHIER’ I don’t mean dieting or counting calories.

I just mean ‘HEALTHIER’ like trying to eat fresh foods, even organic if possible. The most difficult part is watching my sugar intake.

Oh, how I L-O-V-E sweets.

They truly are my downfall. But I’ve been good.

Except for today.

Today I decided to treat myself to something I haven’t had since way last fall.

Yummy, buttery, creamy…

With just a hint of salt.

Of course, I did drizzle it on apples.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 7 minutes
Total Time 12 minutes
Servings 12

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Add sugar, heavy whipped cream, and butter to a medium saucepan. Whisk over medium-low heat until mixture starts to thicken (about 5 minutes). Add vanilla and salt. Keep whisking for another 2 min. Remove from heat. Pour into a glass container. Let cool. Cover and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

This caramel sauce pairs perfectly with tart apples like granny smith, or drizzle it on a store-bought cheesecake and you’ve got dessert!

And don’t get me started on ice cream.

Oh, what I wouldn’t give to have a bowl of vanilla topped with a BIG spoonful of my caramel sauce right now.

Maybe another day.

Today I’m going to take a break from gardening and enjoy my kind of caramel apples.

Here is the recipe for Salted Caramel Sauce!

Yum! This looks and sounds absolutely delicious! I’m thinking about trying my hand at salted caramels this holiday season for gift giving but this sauce looks amazing. We all love it in my house. The fact that it is homemade makes it much more special.

  2. Thank you, Patti! Salted Caramels sound like the PERFECT gift! I also made up this scrumptious caramel sauce one year for a ‘special’ treat for family and friends! They, like I, loved it on everything from ice cream to warm apple pie, and my favorite, popcorn!!!
