Butter Crust….Creamy Frosting…and lots and lots of fresh fruit!
Speaking of the crust. In all the years I’ve been making fruit pizza, the only crust I ever used came out of a can. It was called cookie dough.
Yes, you read that right. Store-bought cookie dough.! Not that there was anything wrong with that, except that maybe it’s just a bit higher in sugar than I care to think about.
And it also has WAY too many preservatives! Which I’m really trying hard to keep out of my diet. So I’ve revised that standard recipe to include a homemade crust which is simply flour-butter and a little half and half.
That’s it. No sugar.
But you’ll never miss it because there is plenty of natural sugar in all that fruit!
I also made a revision to the creamy frosting too. Instead of using all cream cheese and sugar. I cut the cream cheese in half and substituted vanilla Greek yogurt. I also only added in 1 Tablespoon of sugar. (The yogurt has some too).

Fabulous Fruit Pizza
A buttery crust topped with creamy frosting and fresh fruit
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 stick butter softened and cut in chunks
- 2 Tablespoons half and half
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- 6 oz vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 Tablespoon white sugar
- fresh fruit strawberries, peaches, pears, kiwi, blueberries
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400. Combine flour and butter into a mixing bowl or food processor. Mix until butter is pea-sized. Add half and half and mix until it starts to form a dough. Remove and place on a greased 12" pizza pan. Press dough out evenly with fingers. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and allow to cool completely. Meanwhile Combine cream cheese, yogurt, sugar and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Beat until smooth. Spread frosting over crust. Decorate the top with fresh fruit cut to size. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
As I mentioned this recipe is super versatile and you can use any combination of fruit you wish! Mix it up.
For a patriotic spin just use raspberries or strawberries and blueberries. Or for a summer party top with kiwi and pineapple and peaches!
I hope you enjoy this recipe and you can find more of them right here!
