Well folks, this new year is definitely not starting out as I had planned. But, I suppose that’s how it goes. As with any goal, whether personal, or not, life happens, and even the best laid plans sometimes have to be postponed.
My plan was to complete many of the projects needed to be done in our home, as well as, devote more time to this blog. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened, and I truly apologize to those of you who stop by to visit. You amazing folks deserve so much more than what I’ve been offering you this past month. But, for those of you who know me personally, or just through this blog, you know by now that family comes before everything else.
This past Thursday, mom went in to have her nose reconstructed after having half of it removed due to skin cancer. Again, it was a very long process (10 hours), and once it was completed, she came back home to stay with hubby and I. It has been a very difficult and painful recovery for her, and every minute of my days (and nights) has been devoted to her care and comfort.
I won’t lie-these past five days have been emotionally and physically draining for all involved. And I’m not afraid to admit there have been times when I just want to run away, or at the very least, sit down and have a good cry. But then I remember something mom has told me probably a thousand times over the years, about a promise I made to her when I was just two years old.
She was going through a difficult time back then too-and when I saw her cry-I offered her the only thing a child can. A hug-along with a declaration that I would take care of her always.
It’s a promise I plan to keep.
Mom will be staying with us through the week, and on Friday she goes back to the doctor to have stitches removed. We will know what the next steps to her recovery are then.
Please keep my mom in your prayers-and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your kinds words and support.
Blessings and hugs,
